4. IDCA - Listowel... How it went...

Our girls trip has come to an end...

A few busy days but with sprinkles of laughter! Let's start with the beginning...

A few hours trip with a few stops until we arrived at our promised accomodation wich was a dissaster! Aparrently, there was some sort of missunderstanding but the organiser moved quickly and our problem was solved. After everything has settled down, we went out at a local pub in Listowel to meet the rest of the team. Such a funny evening since the three of us don't drink (I make exceptions for special ocasions) and we left the pub very early, so Wednesday was already gone.

Thursday: Coffee&Tea in the morning and now it was the time to leave the house. We arrived at Kerry Writers Museum and we were redirected to our alocated space to display our work. Each one of us had 2 shelves inside the gift shop, wich was also the main entrance for the entire event.

We could've used a bit more space but we made it work. Me and Tanny didn't bring that much stock with us but Sarah was loaded with artwork and I feel like she deserved a bit more to showcase her celtic designs. The three of us ended up being only "ticket girls" and some people didn't even know that we are artists.

We've met a few amazing artists and souls over there and their presence it will be forever imprinted in our memories. Some of them really deserve to be mentioned not only because of their work but for their personality:

Mike Woods (celtic artist), Nick Davis (photographer @ndvision), Ed Rooney (digital artist: @zerooneyz), Elaine Ogilvie (artist), Kris Ramsay (artist @kr_celtic_artist) ), Tom King (blacksmith: @an_gobha) and Shane (gift shop staff).

My personal favourite... Tom King / An Gobha

I'd say he is a blacksmith, passionate storyteller, one-man-show and a big man with a big heart. In my opinion, he was the main attraction of the festival. It's very easy to spot a character like Tom, he stands out of any crowd and once you notice him you cannot unsee him. He is offering everyone the unique opportunity to become an apprentice and to bear witness of the ancient iron work. He is always ready to put a smile on your face, to entertain, to share old tales and he is a hugger!

This can be the most unforgettable experience you can have in Ireland as a foreigner, tourist or even as a local who wants to discover the ancient ways! All the fun you can get is in Boyne Valley, Ireland! More info and contact can be found on Tom's official website www.angobha.ie

I can't wait for the day when we'll meet again and I can tell you with all my heart that this is the same feeling that you'll get by witnessing his mighty presence.

Our trip was one to be remembered!

Me and my girls are a part of WCQ Community and we showcase our work at Waterford Cultural Quarter Market during summer and Winterval season!

Location: Great George's St, Waterford City
