1. My first summer at Waterford Cultural Quarter...

It all started last summer...

My very first day at Waterford Cultural Quarter was a random Saturday of August 2025. I was a lost creative, looking for a place to fit in so I did a few markets here and there. As every artist, I needed to find my audience and a safe space to showcase a part of my work.

It was pure random and chaos, I was "googling" for markets near my home town and WCQ sounded very new to me so I decided to find out more about it. My first contact was Trevor, the organiser, who was very fast responding and kind, he informed me about fees and available dates. The summer almost ended until I created my portable display and I joined their community for a day.

The day has passed quickly thanks to Sarah, a lovely artist I've met that morning and at the end of the day we've become friends! I went home having a very good impression of the market but I was still lost because of the ending summer. Soon I was to find out about Winterval Christmas Market, organised by the same person and I decided to join them in the winter.

The Christmas season has arrived with another creative friend, on her name Tanny. This was my 2nd Christmas market in my whole business history and it was cold and wet, but fun thanks to my two girls. My final decision has been made and I joined the Waterford Cultural Quarter community, decision that brings me back to the present.

This summer...

Now that I've finaly found my safe space, I was able to expand and improve my display. It still is a work in progress and in constant change, it will always be as new stock will be added and with new added items, the display needs to be adjusted accordingly. Starting with this year, I decided to part my stock into 2 sections: market exclusive and website exclusive. Spoiler alert: the 2 can merge at any time, it all depends on the sales and new creations.
